Special Courses

Spanish for Specific Purposes


All courses are taught in Spanish unless otherwise stated. Proficiency levels are indicated as follows:

Our course levels follow those of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL): A1, A2, B1, B2, C1.

  • A1. Language competence of approximately 60 hours of Spanish. (Elementary 2)
  • A2. Language competence of approximately 150 hours of Spanish. (Elementary 5)
  • B1. Language competence of approximately 270 hours of Spanish. (Intermediate 4)
  • B2. Language competence of approximately 420 hours of Spanish. (Advanced 5)
  • C1. Language competence of approximately 600 hours of Spanish. (Higher 6)

 

Spanish Literature (level: B2 / C1)


In this highly popular course, we explore, analyze and discuss the literary wealth of Spain and Latin America of all times. This comprehensive course includes literary samples from the very early stages of the written world to the latest published materials. In order to really understand and appreciate the works we bring along, whenever possible, some of the authors to discuss with the class participants their work. Come and join one of our most exciting special courses!

 

Conversation Courses (level: A2 / B1 / B2 / C1)


The course you need to improve your speaking skills and become more proficient in Spanish. Discussing current events, brainstorming to solve problems, participating in role-plays, and preparing presentations to develop vocabulary, reinforce grammatical structures, and utilize new expressions and colloquialisms will be some of the aspects of the class. Excerpts from movies and news clips will be used as springboards for discussion. You will be asked to prepare material at home that will be discussed in class. Course materials will be selected to reflect students’ needs and interests. This course is offered at different levels

 

Grammar Courses (level: A2 / B1 / B2 / C1)


These courses are designed to work on the most difficult issues of the grammar of each level of competence. The most irksome quirks of the Spanish language grammar will be ironed out and this will help you transition smoothly into the world of language fluency. Course materials will be selected to reflect students’ needs and interests. This course is offered at different levels

 

Grammar and Conversation Courses (level: B1 / B2 / C1)


A combination of both (conversation and grammar) courses where a balanced share of both aspects of the language are intertwined to give your language skills that extra push you need to blend theory and practice. This course is offered at different levels

 

Language Review Courses (level: A2 / B1 / B2 / C1)


This course covers all the different aspects needed to consolidate and master the contents of the different levels. Especially devised for students who prefer to take a review course before taking the end-of-level test: (Elementary 5, Intermediate 4, Advanced 5 and Higher 6). Every aspect of each level will be dealt with in depth to polish up students’ grammar, vocabulary, fluency, pronunciation, pragmatics, etc. This course is offered at different levels

 

Perfeccionamiento (level: C1)


This is the course you can take once you have covered all other courses up to Higher 6. Bearing in mind that perfection is not possible, our Perfeccionamiento courses get closer to it than anything else. Join our Perfeccionamiento group and explore the Pragmatics, the Grammar, the Culture, the politics, etc, of Spain and Latin America.

 

DELE Preparation Course (level: B1 / B2 / C1)


These courses are offered all year around. Students enhance their listening and reading comprehension skills, improve their writing technique and prepare for the exams by reviewing grammar, solving specific grammar and vocabulary problems, studying idiomatic expressions, discussing and analyzing texts and drawings, and taking practice exams.
